People who are unemployed for any extended period will have credit report issues. However, one in 10 people are denied jobs based solely on their credit report (http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/04/pf/employer-credit-checks/). This practice reduces the odds that these individuals will get employed. It is in the best interest of the Nation that unemployed people become employed and contribute to the economy. The primary excuse used for businesses using a credit report is to assess responsiblity. However, if a person has been longterm unemployed anything substantial in the credit report will be largely clouded. A person who is unemployed should be evaluated on their application, their past job performance, and their fit for the vacancy. They should not be evaluated on a credit report.
