Declawing cats has been the normal practice for felines for decades. The procedure involved cutting off the last bone on each toe of the cat, as the claw grows directly from the bone. The cat's paws can become deformed and overly sensitive, leading to behavioral issues like aggression. The cat also suffers an increased chance in arthritis in the wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
Due to the behavioral problems associated with post-declawing, many cats are abandoned at shelters and put down.
The practice is inhuman and should be considered animal cruelty.
