The Federal Government should have the FDA regulate pharmaceutical companies to ban direct advertising of their drugs to consumers. Information regarding drugs and their use should occur from physicians to their patients, not from commercials. Additionally, drug companies should not be using money to finance advertising campaigns, but instead lower the cost of their drugs to make them more affordable. The government has a vested interest to regulate this issue since it concerns the Commerce Clause and since misinformation can occur through advertisements. Only a patient's individual needs can be accommodated by their physician.
