The United States leads the world in mass shootings. With each new shooting, it's becoming more and more clear that a common motive of these shooters is infamy. They want their names to be known- and we the people can and should take away this motive. President Obama should push for new legislation that bans the broadcasting of mass shooting perpetrator's identification. While freedom of the press is an American value, when the media continues to publish the perpetrator's name, details, and background after each shooting they not only give them what they desire but give potential motive for future shootings. The media is directly endangering the safety of American citizens by giving infamy to the perpetrators of these horrendous crimes and consequently giving motive to potential shooters.
