Ban The DoD Excess Property Program that allows military gear to be transferred to local U.S. police departments.

Created by E.G. on August 15, 2014

I propose that we end The DoD Excess Property Program (1033 program, formerly the 1208 program), a Defense Logistics Agency program to transfer leftover military materiel (supplies and equipment) to U.S. state and local civilian law enforcement agencies. The surplus equipment includes grenade launchers, helicopters, military robots, M-16 assault rifles, armored vehicles, riverboats, Battle Dress Uniform clothing, and information technology equipment.

Our elected official should repeal National Defense Authorization Act. Section 1033 allowing the Secretary of Defense to “transfer to Federal and State agencies personal property of the Department of Defense." In addition, all past 1033 procurements that are not matters of public record should be made available to the American public.
