“Breed-specific legislation (BSL) is the blanket term for laws that either regulate or ban certain breeds completely in the hopes of reducing dog attacks. Some city/municipal governments have enacted breed-specific laws. These bans are usually targeted at Pit Bulls, but can also focus on German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans and other breeds that the public fear at the time. When a city enacts BSL, thousands of innocent animals are murdered to appease the fear of a few people. Families get torn apart by a law that unfairly punishes dogs whom have done nothing wrong.
BSL is a quick fix that does not work!
