Ear piercing for babies and children unable to consent or even understand the possible unnecessary issues ear-piercing can cause should not be subjected to the pain, possibility of infection or numerous health risks that can be posed by ear-piercing. The immune system in an infant is not fully developed and much more susceptible to infection. Studies have shown that approximately 35% of adults who get their ears pierced have some sort of adverse reaction such as infection, allergic reactions, keloid formation, traumatic tearing, contact dermatitis and even embedded piercings requiring sedation and surgical removal. It's not a vaccination that could possibly save their life. Let them choose for themselves when they are old enough to understand and to properly care for the piercing.
