Many employers implement dress codes and grooming standards. An abundance of these policies are acceptable, understandable, and some required for health and safety reasons. These policies should not put undue burden on any particular class of people. Still, a considerable amount of employers still implement a clean-shaven policy. This greatly affects men more than women. The cost of shaving every day alone is a burden. Many men also have skin conditions causing daily pain from shaving. With MRSA on the rise in America, affecting approximately 25-30% of the population, daily shaving could increase risk of infection. For those with sensitive skin and skin conditions shaving may lead to sores, pain, and an even more increased risk of MRSA or other infections.
