After yet another American is seen by the world poaching one of Zimbabwe's most beloved animals, it is time for the United States to make enforceable all poaching laws and bans upon its citizens anywhere in the world.
For all we do to protect our wildlife from poaching and otherwise illegal hunts, we do not have any mechanism in which to prosecute illegal hunting when done by an American in clear violation of conscious, ethics, and decency. Other governments do not adequately protect their populations, whether through inadequate security, or often corruption.
I am calling upon the White House to prosecute any American poacher to the fullest extent of American laws, irrespective of where the crime takes place. Animals do not know borders, and neither should their protection.
