Ban filmmakers and film companies from remaking, re-releasing, rebooting, or making sequels to classic movies.

For too long, filmmakers have been abusing the ability to remake movies for a profit. From selfish directors like George Lucas selling Disney the rights of Star Wars, to terrible remakes of classic movies like Planet of the Apes, it seems that directors and producers don’t care about a film’s reputation anymore. Though sometimes remakes can be better than originals, the vast majority of sequels or reboots wind up disgracing the original film. The government should fund a committee named the BFPC (Beloved Film Protection Committee) that meets quarterly to negotiate with writers or directors, trying to remake movies. If the film that they are attempting to reboot is deemed ‘untouchable’ by the committee, then the filmmakers will be denied the privilege to produce the rebooted film.
