Fluoride and other Fluorine containing compounds are toxic salts that accumulate in the body over time. The substance, which is obtained as an industrial waste product that is otherwise illegal to dispose of in the natural environment, is oftentimes contaminated by heavy metals such as lead, aluminum, and cadmium. Accumulation may lead to health problems in the liver and kidneys; the salts also help to facilitate the movement of aluminum across the blood brain barrier, contributing to the onset of alzheimers and other related ilnesses.
