Everyone knows nowadays that fossil fuels are a limited commodity, and that to achieve energy independence, the US must reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Rather than throwing full support behind CLEAN energy, the administration has been increasing fracking to reduce dependence on oil from abroad. Fracking, the practice of injecting fluid at high pressure to fracture shale and release the greenhouse gases stored within, is not the solution. Not only does it waste huge amounts of water a much more precious resource than oil (8 million gallons per fracture), it also has terrible effects on the environment. Fracking releases methane into groundwater, making it poisonous. The vapor contributes to ozone destruction. Look it up. We need permanent solutions to the energy crisis, not fracking.
