Abortion is a very common medical procedure capable of preventing physical and mental trauma, as well as making a good future possible for women who become pregnant before they have finished schooling or before they are ready for motherhood. Despite that, a woman's ability to access abortion is being challenged across America. This year several states have passed bills that restrict or ban women from being able to access an abortion. An article written by Annie-Rose Strasser at thinkprogress.org states that "In the first quarter of 2013, states have proposed 694 provisions related to a woman’s body, how she gets pregnant, or how she chooses to end that pregnancy." No woman should be forced to be pregnant against her will, especially in a country that claims to be "the land of the free."
