If we are going to continue to allow people the right to bear arms in accordance with the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, we must do so with greater caution. Random gun violence by the psychologically ill appears to have spiked dramatically, culminating in perhaps the most heinous of circumstances yet: the murder of 20 children so young, none even had the chance to be anything less than innocent. Most of these acts of mass violence are by lone shooters who are mentally ill. We must not steal away one of our fundamental liberties to satiate public anger, but we can restrict the access of the mentally broken to guns. If we only take their right, they can still access guns of family members. Ergo, we need a law to prevent guns in the home of any person who has received mental care.
