Do I really need to explain why? Gus Johnson doesn't know a thing about soccer. He uses words such as touchline, winger, and nil to try to establish credibility with real soccer fans (not just world cup fans) but we can see right through his bluff. He describes what is happening and states the obvious but he can't provide any analysis (I wonder why?). Also, he likes to ask his compadre, Eric Wynalda, a lot of dumb questions like, "Is it hard to beat a team 3 times in a row?" I doubt he has even played FIFA. What Fox didn't realize is that they are alienating every actual soccer fan. I would rather watch a game in Spanish than listen to Gus. His "dumbing down" of soccer commentary doesn't work like the dumbing down of rap lyrics (2 Chainz anyone?). Sorry Gus, stick to fooball not futbol.
