Thousands of hermit crabs are sold in souvenir shops around the beach and given as oeizes in many carnivals and state fairs and are kept in deplorable conditions. Many die and the ones that are sold are often sold to people uneducated on how to care for hermit crabs, same goes with being given as prizes.
