Ban the import of fish from the commercial fishermen of Canada who kill thousands of seals each year.

Created by D.P. on December 16, 2011

Canada's annual slaughter of seals is inhumane, unprofitable, & only regulated on paper. Contrary to what Canada's DFO attempts to make the public believe, the seal slaughter is not conducted by poor Inuit using seals to survive. Indigenous peoples account for 1 percent of the seals killed each yr, with their own kill method & quota. We are opposed to the cruel seal slaughter performed annually by full-time commercial fishermen, making only 2 percent of their income killing seals. This is a global topic. Most of the world thinks it should end.Due to public pressure, the EU banned all seal product imports. As Senator, Pres Obama said he believes the slaughter should end. Since US imports most of Canada's exported fish, it's necessary that we stop this import until slaughter ends permanently.
