True Fair Trade - The USA should require the SAME Labor and Environmental standards for imported goods as our own. Then the incentive to find cheaper labor and accept inferior environmental standards abroad is lowered.
The expedience of accepting products of lesser labor/environmental standards lowers the US quality of life, weakens communities and family, needlessly outsources jobs.
True Fair Trade will improve the wealth & lives of foreign citizens faster as well maintaining US wealth and decrease outsourcing.
Promoting fair and even work place settings and environmental protections for all earth's citizens is morally ethical.
US products are sold elsewhere with reasoned labor/environmental standards, accepting less from imports degrades our standards.
