Ban the inhumane act of declawing domesticated cats.

Created by K.S. on November 09, 2014

Declawing is a procedure done by veterinarians on domesticated cats, called onychectomies. What is done to the cat is equivalent to cutting off a human's fingers and toes up to the top knuckle. It isn't just removing the claw, veterniarians cut out the claw and bone. These procedures should be considered animal cruelty because these cats are being mutilated and their livelihoods are being taken away. Their claws are used for stretching, defense, and walking. Once that is taken away they have to learn how to walk and live again. How would you feel if someone took away part of your fingers and toes, simply because you scratch their furniture? There are alternatives to declawing such as: buying more scratch posts, putting soft plastic tips on their claws, or trimming their claws.
