Ban Ivory in the United States

The current restrictions placed on buying ivory have no effect on the illegal ivory trade. African elephants are near extinction. A survey of ivory purchased in one American city found that almost 70% of the ivory purchased came to the US illegally. The only way to stop the extinction of the African elephant is a total ban on the import of ivory products to the United States. The ban should remain in effect until procedures are in place to protect the few remaining elephants, and until the elephant population has stabilized. BAN IVORY PRDUCTS IN THE USA!!
