Too many journalists think they are being cute by writing stories based upon the petitions created on WhiteHouse.gov -- which literally anyone can create for any purpose.
These petitions usually only have a couple hundred signatures which is hardly a sign of a real movement of people.
For all we know, the journalist created the petition, got some buddies to sign it, and used it as an excuse to write a story promoting his or her agenda.
This must end.
