If finished, the pipeline will be so large it cuts America in half from Canada to the Gulf of Texas. It'll pump tons of oil across the nation, across forests, across prairies, and across lakes.
If the 2010 BP oil spill taught us anything, it's that oil companies don't care about the environment and they don't care about the slaughter of animals. Oil GUSHED for three straight months, devastating the gulf and destroying homes of marine life.
Do we want to take that chance again? Do we want to gamble that oil companies have changed? That if another oil spill happens to occur, they'd fix it immediately?
If XL is finished and a spill occurs, how much devastation is okay? 1000 acres? 10,000? How much wildlife and forests are okay to drown in sludge?
