The government is in dire need of reform. Our regulatory bodies are a joke; they are being run by the same people they are supposed to be regulating. Government should be for the people, not campaign donors or industry. These conflicts of interest and the institution of lobbying are going to be our undoing. The same policies which led to the last recession were never reformed and, although change was promised, it seems unlikely that it will ever come because of our failure and unwillingness to address these problems. Gay marriage, abortion, and other such social phenomena should not be the focus of our attention; our economic recovery has been fragile and our very future as a thriving country is at stake. Make lobbying and conflicts of interest a thing of the past before our country is.
