Ban mail order pharmacies to create approximately 30000 jobs nationwide.

Created by N.P. on January 13, 2013

Lets appeal Mr President, Senate and congress to stop mail order prescription service and pass same contracts to all local pharmacies nationwide to keep health care cost down and yet create about 30000 jobs. In 2010, Medco (a pharmacy benefit manager, now called Express Scripts) filled 430 million prescriptions at their mail order facility. If we consider number of technician hours needed to fill those prescriptions manually, that converts to 43 millions technician hours per year which converts to 20,673 full time jobs nationwide (43,000,000/2080 hrs). If we include other PBMs we should be able to create 30000 to 40000 jobs nationwide. Also, to keep healthcare cost down, pass down same reimbursement contracts to local pharmacies same as mail order. More jobs mean better Economy.
