As a country that prides itself on freedom and equality, it is a shame that we still do not have marriage equality. Apart from being a civil and human rights issue, more weddings would also mean more business for hotels, reception venues, caterers, airlines, bakeries and boutiques.
I feel that the discrimination towards the gay community in our country is appalling. Supporting this initiative would show the world that you are serious about equal rights for all.
This is not a religious issue; the values of one religion should not be imposed on the entire population. There is a great difference between civil marriage and holy marriage, and the state should only be concerned with one of these.
The ban on gay marriage in many states is affront to liberty for all. End Marriage Discrimination!
