We request a national ban on the broadcast, reporting, or distribution of media that identifies a suspect responsible for any loss of life, with the following provisions:
-all primary suspects are in custody
-there is no longer a threat to the public
We ask that this ban remain in effect until 21 days have passed or it is deemed that the public is in further danger as a direct result of the event at hand.
Those of us signing this petition are in favor of the above due to the belief that media coverage of the suspect responsible for these tragic losses of life may encourage others to repeat these tragedies. It is also out of respect for the lives that have been lost and those who took action to stop these incidents.
