Mass shootings in public places appears to be on the rise. Perhaps one reason for this is that suicidal individuals, who are feeling lonely and insignificant, are seeking an infamy in death that they would never have in life.
How many others are out there, perhaps feeling worthless and small, are watching the news coverage of the horror in Connecticut and deciding that if they too are feeling desperate they might be inclined to seek their own 15 minutes of fame?
I am calling on lawmakers to act in order to prevent a similar tragedy from occurring in the future. If the news media were banned from reporting the name of those committing these terrible crimes, others may think twice before committing a copycat killing.
