Experts such Dr. Pete Blair, with TSU's ALERRT Center attribute one of the social aspects of mass shootings, and active shooters as a move for public fame and infamy.
This is known as the Contagion Effect-as people attempt to emulate or copy-cat, but also one-up each others in incidents. Their name becomes known and in turn they are secured a place in the history books.
SCOTUS determined that freedom of speech can be suspended in special cases, banning media from naming or giving details about the shooters will de-glamorize the actions. The media can still focus on events and exploit how they see fit with exception of naming the shooter.
Please mad media (news, radio, magazines, television) from releasing names and establish high fines for breaching it.
