Ban oil imports from the Venezuelan government following atrocious violations of human rights, including murder.

Created by G.G. on February 17, 2014

On February 12 Venezuelan students and citizens took to the streets to peacefully protest the progressive deterioration of the living standards and the continued attacks on basic freedoms by the government led by Nicolas Maduro. The government unleashed a brutal wave of repression resulting in 3 people murdered in cold blood, hundreds of injured and arrests. Reports from Human Rights observers attest of atrocious torture, including sexual assault on some of the students held without any formal accusation of any crime. The United States government can not turn a blind eye on this grave situation. I call on President Obama to use heavy sanctions against Maduro's government, starting with an oil embargo. As an American, I can not fill my tank with the blood of Venezuelan students.
