Outdoor advertising is visual pollution. Only a handful of multinational companies such as Clear Channel Outdoor and JCDecaux make profits with outdoor advertising, and they use all fiscal tricks available to minimize the taxes they pay to the communities. The public space belongs to the public and should not be privatized.
In the end, it is the consumers who pay more money for their products because so much money is spent on advertising. A ban on outdoor advertising would not lead to people stopping to consume. But it would make the scenery prettier, it would maintain the public character of public space, and the costs of products and services would decrease.
