Currently we allow people who we wouldn't allow on a plane after stringent security checks to buy lethal weapons. Ban people on the terrorist watchlist from buying these guns. For those worried about those wrongly on the list, they can get themselves removed in a matter of weeks. If you wouldn't fly with someone than they should not be free to buy a lethal machine.
