Plastic microbeads found in exfoliating personal care products are polluting the water and contaminating the animals living in the water. Microbeads are designed to attract and hold pollutants. Microbeads wash down the drain, collecting more pollutants en route, and are NOT filtered in sewage treatment causing them to flow into waterways.
Microbeads are a growing problem with no solution and already account for a high percentage of the plastic contamination in both freshwater and saltwater.New York, Ohio, Illinois, and California have all already taken initiative in considering state-wide bans on the product. We the people, urge you to take action on this issue by creating a country-wide ban on microbeads used for exfoliating personal care products.Thank you.
