The American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, and many other medical organizations have stated that conversion therapy, or “the cure for homosexuality” does not work.
The Attorney General has stated that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic, and this practice spreads the false idea that homosexuality is a disease.
Many organizations have expressed concerns about the social and medical threats the practice represents, and some news outlets have reported on multiple patients undergoing conversion therapy becoming depressed and even committing suicide. To protect the American people and to stop the spreading of false and dangerous anti-gay ideas, conversion therapy must be banned as a medical practice.
