In 2012, the Obama Administration signed in new fuel efficiency standards that would raise the fuel efficiency of cars and light-duty trucks to 54.5 miles per gallon (MPG). Why not take the extra step and ban the production of all cars that solely depend on gasoline.
This would not only permanently lower the amount of money that consumers spend on gas, but would forever change the face of transportation by limiting consumers and commuters to hybrid and electric cars.
Steps that would need to be taken before this happens (2030) would include increasing the number of plug-in stations nationwide. By ticketing idling cars that sit in parking lots and cracking down on smog testing, we could fund this new infrastructure.
