Trucking companies in an effort to save money, buy recap tires by taking a new tread and gluing it to an old tire to give it more miles. This is unsafe. Ride down any major interstate and you will see this debris all over our highways. This debris has caused many accidents and has even caused death. A new tire cost around $400, while a recapped tire will cost around $200. Having 30,000+lbs truck traveling down our highways with used tires that can come apart at anytime, puts the public at undo risk. Please make our highways and environment safer. Ban recap tires on semi tractor trucks.
