We do not want the names, or photos, of mass murderers to be released in the press.
1. The victims deserve to be remembered...the killer does not.
2. Releasing the killer's name provides the opportunity for other mentally ill people to idealize this person (and identify with them) and potentially give them the desire to copy or surpass that person.
3. The killer's entire family does not deserve to be dragged out into the press and have their name tarnished forever.
4. Journalists make mistakes. With the CT shooting they named the wrong suspect at first. Forbidding them to release the identity of the killer would eliminate this issue.
By knowing who they are, we turn them into anti-heros.
These killers need to die anonymously without any kind of fame or recognition.
