Ban retail and food industries from being open on national holidays, forcing workers to choose between family and job.

Created by M.J. on December 25, 2012

Every year, employees are forced to choose between spending time with their families on holidays, or to continue to see a paycheck to feed those families with. Restaurants have always been open on holidays, and many retailers are following, with more joining this trend every year. Thanksgiving has become nothing but Black Thursday, as Black Friday sales have encroached on what was meant to be a day to celebrate with your family and be thankful for the things you have. Some retailers are open on Christmas, with others thinking about testing it out for themselves. Other national holidays are nothing more than days of sales. It's shameful that many Veterans have to work on Veteran's Day, that the only people who have Labor Day off are those that do no Labor.
