The recent bombings at the Boston marathon have put the spotlight on the dangers surrounding pressure cookers and the kinds of people who use them. Pressure cookers are by their very nature, bombs. These devices build an internal pressure which, if not relieved, increase to the point of containment failure. Relief valves are intended to keep the pressure in check, however, these do fail, thereby putting unknowing consumers, the children, families, pets and homes at risk for an explosion. Further, these valves are easily overcome with general talent, creating a device which is deadly in the hands of those carrying ill will. An across the board ban on the sale or possession of pressure cookers would be best, however, a background check by the FBI would be the minimum level of protection
