Ban the sale and use of assault rifles, excluding military use

Since the tragedy of the Columbine massacre in 1999, 31 school shootings have occurred in the United States. That being said, in those 13 years, that is an average of about 2 school shootings a year, and I think that the American people will agree, that is too many. This month, we saw the second deadliest school shooting, which claimed the life of 6 adults, and worst of all, 20 innocent children in senseless slaughter. This horrific assault was committed using automatic weapons, weapons that, at least, in my opinion, deserve no place in the hands of any given American civilian. The only people who should own assault rifles are the military, as the public has no use for them, other than violence and carnage. Please, ban assault style weapons to the public, end the slaughter of our people.
