Ban The Sale of Military Grade Weapons to The Public and Update Required Background Checks

I believe that all people have the right to bear arms. I do not believe that it is acceptable that the general public is allowed access to military grade weapons. The general public should not be allowed access to assault rifles. There should be severely extensive background checks before the sale of ANY gun. Anyone who struggled with drugs and/or alcohol, and has been sober for less than one full year (365 days) should not be sold a weapon. Anyone with mental health issues, including severe PTSD, should not be sold weapons. There should be one single series of standardized tests that EVERYONE has to go through, with results that cannot be forged, to determine who is fit to own weaponry. No one under a certain age should be allowed to own a gun or have a weapons permit. Plain and simple.
