The time has come to (again) ban assault weapons in the United States for civilian use. Reasonable people need to articulate the need for such a ban and immediately demand the end of manufacturing, selling, transferring and importing such unnecessary and deadly weapons in this country. Efforts are being launched in Congress, and reasonable people must come together to show our support. As Senator Dianne Feinstein noted, "We must take these dangerous weapons of war off our streets." She cited a justice department study which found that since the 1994 ban expired, assault weapons were used in more than 450 incidents causing 385 deaths and more than 450 injuries. This is a step toward the healing of our country and a necessary step for our future.
