Non-functional assault weapons (permanently plugging the barrel or disabling components that allowed them to be fired) Collectors could still own non-functioning assault weapons for their collections. A 20 year minimum felony prison sentence would need to be available for those convicted of making an inoperable assault weapon functional again. Our founding fathers never would have cosidered assault weapons as part of the "right to keep and bear arms" amentmant to the constitution, had they been available at that time in our history. Assault weapons have only one purpose; to kill people. No state allows a hunter to hunt with an automatic or semi-automatic weapon anyway, so why the need to have working assault weapons?
