Ban serving meat and meat products in schools and prisons.

Created by S.P. on February 28, 2013

Taxpayer funded dollars go to serving meat and meat products in our schools and prisons. This leads to a number of negative factors:

- substandard quality of meat being served
- increased health care costs and health risks including obesity, heart disease, and cancer
- increased cost of meat for consumers
- higher taxes to serve meat vs. lower cost vegetable substitutes
- increased environmental damage caused by higher demand for livestock
- increased costs to hire more government inspectors

If we stop serving meat in these places it will benefit the individuals involved and society as a whole. It will reduce the burden on the meat industry to stop making low grade meat.
