The Federal Government should ban the use of solitary confinement for minors and those with mental illnesses. In addition, use of solitary confinement should be limited when used on adults (15 days or so).
Psychologists worldwide agree that solitary confinement is tantamount to torture - provoking hallucinations, insanity, and violent behavior in those without any prior history.
We have the capacity to be the most civilized country in the world. We can have strength without torture and barbaric practices.
Are we going to continue damaging our youth with this practice? Let's reform the prison system - it's obviously flawed.
