ban standardized testing for college entry

Created by J.H. on January 14, 2013

On behalf of high school students everywhere, a serious stance needs to be taken on the matter of banning the American College Test, ACT,and the Scholastic Assessment Test, SAT. These forms of standardized tests are unreliable measures of student performance. According to procon.org, standardized testing has not improved student achievement. It has made the college admittance process nerve racking and stressful. Test expenses have increased, placing a burden on state education as well as family budgets. This billion dollar testing industry is notorious for making costly and time consuming scoring errors. The format of the test is an inadequate assessment tool, encouraging a simplistic way of thinking, which does not prepare students for productive, adult lives.
