Ban the term "assault rifle" from being used my media experts and politicians.

Created by L.T. on December 24, 2012

The term "assault weapon" is thrown around too loosely and it is striking fear into the minds of the uneducated public. An "assault weapon", by definition, is a select fire weapon that is in-between a sub-machine gun and a heavy machine gun that has a cyclic fire rate of 500-600 rounds per-minute. Nothing purchased by the general public has any of those features. An AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle that requires a squeeze of the trigger for every round fired (AR being short for Armalite); it is no different than any other semi-automatic hunting rifle.
