Sharks are apex predators that are critically endangered by the practice of shark finning--harvesting sharks just for the fins to be used in making shark fin soup. We ask for a ban on the trade of shark fins in the U.S. to help stop this barbaric practice and help preserve a group of creatures which may be necessary for the health of the oceans--the oceans that we all depend upon for life. The U.S. needs to set an example of good stewardship of our oceans--this is an essential step.
