Ban un-screened gun sales

Created by C.C. on January 12, 2013

Currently buying a "long gun" IE rifle or shotgun new from a gun store or retailer would require a buyer to submit to background checks to make sure the buyer is allowed to own a firearm.

But once that person owns the weapon they are then allowed to sell it to someone else without having to have the same checks ran on the new owner.

This is not only a double standard but allows people that should not have these weapons venues to obtain them easily.

This could easily be fixed by requiring these sales to go through a gun store or retailer just like hand guns do.

Not only would this possibly help keep weapons out of the hands of felons and criminals but also provide a boost for local business in the form of revenue in new checks.
