Mike Skinner, a scientist in Washington State, exposed a pregnant mother rat with a specific pesticide commonly used in agriculture in the United States. He studied the effects and, as reported by the BBC, here is what he said.
“I treated the animal, as the pregnant mother with these compounds, and then we started seeing between 6 months into a year a whole host of other diseases that we didn’t expect. And this ranged between tumors such as breast and skin tumors, ah prostate disease, ah, kidney disease and immune dysfunction... And the next step was for us to go to the next generation and the third generation out and the same disease occurs…and we saw these same diseases occur in 85% of animals in every generation.” -Mike Skinner
