Ban the use of consumer credit reports to determine employee candidate suitability.

Created by S.S. on November 24, 2012

Currently, most employers can use an individual's consumer credit report to determine employee suitability. This practice is unfair, as when one is unemployed and has medical expenses, student loans, and other debt to repay, it reflects negatively on consumer credit reports. A person's debt in no way reflects the ability of a person to perform job duties.

Licensed professionals and skilled tradesmen who are unemployed due to company downsizing, outsourcing, or failing are unable to find gainful employment due to accumulating debt.

We, the skilled tradesmen and professionals of the United States, demand the discriminatory practice of judging an employee candidate's suitability for any private, public, county, state, or federal position by their Consumer Credit Report be made unlawful.
